About me
I am an artist and art educator currently living in Atlanta, Georgia. I am originally from Coastal South Carolina. Growing up I spent as much time as possible in art classes. My obsession with art grew as I attended College of Charleston, where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art. I studied every available art form, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and printmaking. After college, I worked as a freelance artist creating custom commissioned paintings, and as a professional production artisan & designer creating bespoke handmade goods for companies in fields ranging from metalsmithing to fashion. I had built a vast repertoire of creative skills but I longed for a sense of community in my daily life. So, after moving to Atlanta, I transitioned into art education. I attended Georgia State University where I earned a Master In Teaching in Art Education. Throughout my academic pursuit, I have dedicated myself to researching and practicing effective teaching methodologies, classroom management, curriculum development, and responsive instruction. Additionally, I spent a year Student Teaching at Fifth Avenue Upper Elementary School in Decatur, GA. Today, I am excited to be a certified Visual Arts Teacher and finally share with my community, the passion for art instilled in me by my own art teachers. As always, I also continue to develop my own practice as an artist. Recently I have enjoyed painting (my favorite), making pottery, and creating digital art. You can find samples of my recent work on the “personal artwork” page.
