Learning Environment
What students and teachers can expect from my courses…
At the heart of my teaching approach lies a deep belief in the power of constructivism, where learning is an active journey of discovery and self-expression. Through a blend of choice-based learning, studio habits of mind, and inquiry-based exploration, we create a nurturing space for students to shape their own artistic path. Students can expect to learn foundational knowledge and studio routines that they can carry into adulthood, through projects that leave room for creative interpretation and respond to student’s culture and curiosities. Through partial choice-based learning, I want to empower students to follow their passions and experiment with various mediums, fostering a sense of ownership over their creative endeavors. Studio habits of mind, like persistence and reflection, guide artists as they hone their craft and develop a deeper understanding of their artistic process. Through inquiry-based learning, I aim to encourage curiosity and critical thinking, inviting students to ask questions and explore the world around them through art. Together, these elements create courses that celebrate each student's unique voice and support a community of lifelong learners and creators.
